Habitat Sloterdijk Amsterdam

GENERATION TOWER

Habitat is a generation tower. A community of people in all ages and stages of life, based on the principle that social sustainability comes from cultural diversity and openness. There are starters, seniors, creative and innovative entrepreneurs, singles, couples, families and residential groups. The different generations reinforce each other. For example, seniors manage a shared garden, starters have flexible workplaces, families have play areas. Older people babysit the children, young people do their shopping, children read the very oldest and neighbors take care of pets during holidays.

In order to facilitate all these lifestyles, the residential towers and plinth offer a new living concept: a vertical city in an ultra-flexible building in which typological diversity and adaptability lead to a highly differentiated range of functions and types of housing. A micro society in which you can grow and which grows with you. The resident adapts the house as desired in a subsequent phase of life. Habitat, for example, offers a living environment that allows time to adapt to a dynamic urban culture and a changing housing demand.

SOCIAL NETWORK

Habitat functions as a social network. By facilitating informal places (third places) where people meet in a relaxed atmosphere. Where they live, play, study, experience, relax, learn, share and create. Key places for socialization that invite to enter into sustainable, social contacts. Habitat creates room for synergy of living cultures. For example, the second ground level is a shared garden, the plinth the backbone of facilities aimed at meeting, relaxation and entrepreneurship, the conservatory a central meeting place for residents and a reading garden.

ECONOMIC CATALISER

Habitat is an economic catalyst and creates conditions for production and creation. With an exciting placemaking program prior to construction and a smart plinth around the entire building, urban development and new activities are activated. The plinth has a distinctive production culture. The varied, economic and creative dynamics contributes to the realization of the desired lively working and living environment. Sharing economy offers opportunities for new entrepreneurship, think of sharing workplaces. An app brings residents, visitors and entrepreneurs together digitally so that they can share services and ideas, depending on the possibilities of the new sharing economy.
