Set Down on Paper

In summer 2010 the Centraal Museum celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the Contemporary Drawings Collection of Utrecht. The collection Down on Paper includes fantastic drawings from Daniëls to Dumas, from Schleiffert to Schoonhoven. The curators challenged us to display an extremely diverse range of works in a very compact way using only a limited number of existing walls. By manipulating the visual boundaries of the space we created an optical illusion that stretches the display surfaces onto the floor. This opened up a range of original display patterns linked to themes of drawings (figures, portraits, structures, landscapes, series, nudes). The different patterns allow the visitor to discover unexpected relations between the works.
